Kayla was previously working as a Team Leader in residential care. She cared for dementia patients with high care needs. She decided to work in home care after hearing good things about the industry and how rewarding it is.

What she loves the most about the 12 months she has spent in the home care industry with Accruo is the ability to help people in the community who need it most and to build relationships with her clients through continuity of care. Her favourite client suffers from Huntington's disease, requires full palliative care and PEG feeding. "Even though it's hard for her to communicate to us, when you give her the best care she gives you a big smile and laughs." - Kayla.

Kayla has received some great feedback from both senior Support Workers and her clients and has been chosen by management to do further training in degenerative diseases with Essential skills who specialise in providing training and assessment in Aged, Disability and Community Services.

If you want to get into the home care industry, Kayla recommends a caring nature, good listening skills and lots of compassion.
