Essential Skill Training and Recruitment

Accuro Homecare has teamed up with Essential Skills in Newcastle to provide our staff with ongoing training and development.

As part of our staff development program, we were able to secure funding to provide further training which will enable our Support Workers to provide better quality care for our clients.

Essential Skills, who specialise in training for the aged, disabled and community care sector, will be holding 3 courses specifically for Accuro Homecare Direct Support Workers in late June. These 3 courses, which will be held over 3 days, are elective modules chosen from the Certificate III in Individual Support. The modules chosen are;

  • Work with People with Mental Health Issues
  • Respond to Suspected Abuse
  • Facilitate Responsible Behaviour

These modules were chosen by Accuro Homecare to respond to the increased demand in the industry for workers with skills in these areas. We are seeing a growth in clients who require staff that can effectively deal with mental health issues and in response to the Royal Commission into abuse in the aged care sector, Accuro Homecare has decided to take a pro active approach in equipping its staff with the ability to recognise signs of abuse and how to report it.

It is envisaged that we will continue to utilise the services provided by Essential Skills into the future as we continue to develop the skills of our staff and respond to the needs of the industry.
